If it is something outside our scope of practice, we can get you referred to the appropriate specialist and can assist in your care when appropriate. Wellness Service
Getting your Annual Physical is very important no matter if you consider yourself to be in top notch health or struggling to make your health a priority. This is an opportunity to do a general medical exam, general labs, and an evaluation for any common screenings used for early disease detection. Discuss with your provider family history of cancers as this could affect your screening age. Some conditions such as Hypertension (i.e. high blood pressure) and Diabetes can be silent in the beginning stages. If symptoms are present, they may be minimal or vague. Getting a checkup with your provider allows the opportunity to screen for some of these common conditions which provides the chance for early detection and treatment, limiting the negative health effects of the condition. No matter your age or gender, getting a general checkup is a yearly event you should make a priority. There are some medical conditions that, once present, do not go away but are indeed manageable and treatable. Diagnoses like Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease, Stroke, Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, Chronic Kidney Disease (to name a few) can be devastating diagnoses for the individual. Well Woman
Service
Women have unique health care needs. A well woman visit is an opportunity to perform preventative examinations and screenings specific to the female reproductive health. During this exam, evaluation of the pelvis, cervix, and breast tissue is common. Typical screenings during this time are pap smears for cervical cancer and mammograms for breast cancer, but is not limited to just these. It is also paramount to discuss any family history of reproductive cancers during this visit. This is also a prime time to talk with your provider about any reproductive health concerns. Here, at Optimum Health Primary Care, we are rigorous in staying up-to-date on the recommendations for the Well Woman Examination and are ready to provide this essential service to our patients.
Acute Visits
Having a primary care provider is not just for the chronic and preventative care. Just as unintended events happen in everyday life, so do unintended acute health-related problems arise. An acute health care visit is for those sudden-onset symptoms that are non-emergent/non-life threatening such as sore throat, change in urine concerning for urinary tract infection, acute onset of back/joint pain (NOT CHRONIC PAIN MANAGEMENT), symptoms of gastrointestinal infection, etc. These visits are to get you in and out as efficiently as possible with a treatment regimen in hand. The team at Optimum Health Primary Care can provide routine visits, but also allow the flexibility in our schedule to see you for those pesky acute health care concerns.
